There’s just one problem: biologically speaking, it’s entirely outdated.
The idea that a plant’s physical structure dictates its psychoactive effects is a lingering myth from the 18th century. Today, virtually every flower on the market is a complex poly-hybrid. If you smoked a pure landrace back then, you were experiencing a highly specific, geographically isolated chemical profile.
But pure landraces are incredibly rare today. The reason why comes down to the law.

Today, practically every strain on the shelf is a poly-hybrid. A modern "Sativa" might just be a hybrid that expresses a narrow leaf structure, while a modern "Indica" is simply a hybrid that grows short and bushy. The physical shape of the plant no longer guarantees the effects it will produce.
The Real Drivers: Chemotypes and the Entourage Effect
If the shape of the leaf doesn't determine the effects, what does? The answer lies in the plant’s chemotype—its specific chemical and molecular profile.

If a specific strain makes you feel relaxed and pain-free, note its chemical profile—chances are, you'll find those exact same benefits in another strain with a similar makeup, regardless of what the jar claims about its lineage.
